Strong Style at Kapok's Exhibition
Kapok, my new neighbor, is a must see store on Star Street in Wan Chai.  Started in 2006, by Frenchman Arnault, Kapok carries small designers from around the world that cannot be elsewhere found in Hong Kong.  The selection is carefully curated with a focus on craftsmanship and creativity.  It is exactly how a store should be, with hip & knowledgeable staff and impeccable merchandising.  Kapok frequently hosts events, one which I attended last night, that showcased paintings and a video install by the artist XYZ.  Some current brands include:  Commune de Paris, Marais USA, & Postalco

Liger Hong Kong

Liger, 2nd Floor Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
Inside Shop
F/W Collection
Typical HK Style Jumpsuit
Dorothy, one of the owners of Ligre
Given the lack of space in Hong Kong, it is the norm for the coolest stores and restaurants to be on the 2nd floor of a building.  The hidden quality makes the hip factor rise and these 2nd level shops are worth the find.  One of my favorite shops is called Liger.  Owned by an famous actress and stylist, this shop is perfectly tailored to the hip Hong Kong woman.  The collections are either from local our Hong Kong based designers and all reflect the day to day style of the owners.  If you are looking to collect some unique pieces, do check out this store, it is well worth.

Style in Macau

Went to Macau over the weekend, for a Summer music festival.  Searched for style and alas, unless you find men smoking and gambling sexy, I took the "gamble" of being photographed for my blog (and seems I will make further blog appearances, what do you think reader?).  Perfect outfit for an evening of music, dancing and gambling.  Think the suspenders fit the mood. This was a bit of a victory walk, co-won some money while playing Roulette.  Cheers to Henry for capturing the moment.

Lightly Used Designer Handbags

When I first arrived to Hong Kong, I was suspicious of the chain stores "France & Italy Station" around the island, selling heavily discounted (upwards of 50% off) designer handbags in perfect condition.  Neither did they seem knock off, nor were they more than 1 or 2 seasons old to demand such a price cut.  After much discussion with locals, I have found that these stores are in fact the real deal.  They purchase softly and rarely worn handbags from socialites and other sources in Hong Kong and world-wide.  It is quite common for women in Hong Kong to purchase the latest bag, wear it on a few occasions and resale it back to the store for upwards of 75% back.  If you do fancy bags, and don't need the latest "it" item, than this is your store.  Locals even request a bag to the shop owner, whom than sources the bag for them rarely worn.  Last time I walked in the store, there were 10 Birkin bags waiting to be taken home.
